Left Hand Thread Lug Nuts
Left Hand Thread Lug Nuts
Left hand (LH) thread lug nuts across our stocked sizes, including 7/16", 1/2", 9/16" and 5/8" threads in acorn, mag and duplex styles. These are reverse-thread nuts that tighten counter-clockwise.
Left hand threads are commonly found on the driver's side of classic Mopar vehicles and certain vintage cars and trailers. If you are replacing nuts on a modern vehicle, you almost certainly need standard right hand threads instead, so verify before ordering. Our wheel fitment guide covers how to measure and confirm your thread size.
Common questions
How do I know if I have left hand threads? LH studs are often stamped with an L on the end, and the nut loosens clockwise instead of counter-clockwise.
Why did manufacturers use left hand threads? Older designs used them on the left side of the vehicle to resist loosening from wheel rotation.
Do modern cars use them? Almost never. Unless your vehicle is a classic or a specialty trailer, order standard right hand thread nuts.
You may also need 7/16"-20 lug nuts, 9/16"-18 lug nuts and all wheel lug nuts. Our torque reference chart lists specs for every common size.
