Porsche spacer fitment guide & common questions
Five-lug (not center-lock) 911 1965–2022, 928 1978–1995, 944 1983–1991 and 968 1992–1995 wheel spacers: 5x130, 14x1.5 thread, 71.6mm hub (the Boxster 1997–2022, Cayman 2006–2022, Cayenne 2003–2022, Panamera 2010–2022 and Taycan 2020–2022 share the pattern)
The 911 1965–1998 and 1999–2022, Boxster 1997–2022, Cayman 2006–2022, Cayenne 2003–2022, Panamera 2010–2022, Taycan 2020–2022, 928 1978–1995, 944 1983–1991, 968 1992–1995 use 5x130 with a 14x1.5 thread and a 71.6mm hub on five-lug hubs; the pair is never for center-lock wheels. The 5x130 hub centric Porsche pair (71.5mm bore, 14x1.5 studs, 1" to 2.5") is listed for the 911, 928, 944 and 968 on Porsche factory wheels (its raised wheel-side lip centers the factory wheel), for a factory hub no taller than 20mm, measured with the diagram on its listing; on some years of the 911, 928 and 944 the front hub stands taller than the rear, so measure the front hub as well before fitting the pair up front. Its listing does not name the Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne, Panamera or Taycan, so no bolt-on pair on this page is listed for them. Model years after 2022 are not yet confirmed by an outside source for these models, so measure before ordering for a newer car.
The Boxster 1997–2022, Cayman 2006–2022, Cayenne 2003–2022, Panamera 2010–2022, Taycan 2020–2022 and five-lug 911 1999–2022 (never center-lock wheels) hold their wheels with lug bolts. On the 911 1999–2022, the 5x130 hub centric pair needs hub-side hardware. Bolt-on spacers do not include lug bolts: the pair mounts to the hub with hub-side lug bolts in the vehicle's required thread and the pair's required seat, bought separately. Those hub-side bolts must reach full thread engagement in the hub, with their heads fully recessed below the pair's wheel-side face so the wheel seats flush. The wheel then mounts on the pair's studs with lug nuts that match its 14x1.5 stud thread and your wheels' seat. The air-cooled 911 (901 through 993) 1965–1998, 928 1978–1995, 944 1983–1991 and 968 1992–1995 use lug nuts on studs, which clamp the pair to the hub; a 1998-built 996 sold outside the US uses lug bolts, so check a 1998 car before buying hardware. The 912 1966–1969 and the 1972 914-6 share the 5x130 pattern, but their thread and hub are not confirmed by an outside source, so check both before ordering.
Porsche slip-on spacers: 6mm, 13mm and 17mm pairs for the 5x130 pattern
The 6mm, 13mm and 17mm hub centric slip-on pairs are listed for the Porsche 5x130 pattern, on five-lug hubs only, never center-lock wheels. Their listings do not state the bore or name models, so measure your hub and check the listing before ordering one. A slip-on takes its own thickness out of the thread engagement. On a car with lug bolts, use longer lug bolts in your vehicle's thread and your wheel's seat, long enough for the thread engagement required by the vehicle, wheel and fastener manufacturers at the spacer thickness you choose, and check that they do not contact brake or other components. On a car with studs, never shorten the studs on a slip-on; keep the thread engagement required by the vehicle, wheel and fastener manufacturers, fit suitable longer studs if they fall short, and check that closed-end lug nuts do not bottom out. The 6mm pair is flat: a flat spacer centers itself on the hub; the wheel still needs enough factory hub pilot beyond the spacer to engage its center bore.
Macan 2015–2022 wheel spacers: 5x112, 14x1.5 thread, 66.5mm hub
The Macan 2015–2022 uses 5x112 with 14x1.5 lug bolts and a 66.5mm hub. Fit the 5x112 bolt-on pair with 14x1.5 studs (66.56mm center bore, 1.25"), which clears the hub and centers on the studs. The wheel mounts with lug nuts that match its 14x1.5 stud thread and your wheels' seat (the 5x112 pair's included nuts are listed for Mercedes wheels). Model years 2023–2026 of the Macan are not yet confirmed by an outside source. For a different wheel pattern, see wheel adapters.
How to choose a Porsche spacer: slip-on or bolt-on, thread, hub bore and thickness
Slip-on spacers slide over existing wheel studs like a thick washer, ideal for thin adjustments. Bolt-on spacers bolt directly to factory studs using separate hardware and feature their own integrated studs to mount the wheel, ideal for wider setups. Hub centric is an attribute of both types: the 5x130 bolt-on pair's 71.5mm bore is machined to the Porsche hub, so the hub, not the studs, centers it.
- Thread: 14x1.5 on the five-lug 911 1965–1998 and 1999–2022 (never center-lock wheels), Boxster 1997–2022, Cayman 2006–2022, Cayenne 2003–2022, Panamera 2010–2022, Taycan 2020–2022, 928 1978–1995, 944 1983–1991, 968 1992–1995 and Macan 2015–2022. A bolt-on pair's studs must carry your vehicle's thread. On a hub with wheel studs, lug nuts in your vehicle's stud thread and the pair's required seat clamp the pair to the hub (your own nuts only if they meet both); on a hub with lug bolts, the hub-side bolts are bought separately in your car's thread and the pair's required seat, because bolt-on spacers do not include lug bolts. The wheel then mounts on the pair's studs with lug nuts that match its stud thread and your wheels' seat.
- Hub bore and height: 71.6mm on the five-lug 911 (never center-lock wheels) 1965–1998 and 1999–2022, Boxster 1997–2022, Cayman 2006–2022, Cayenne 2003–2022, Panamera 2010–2022, Taycan 2020–2022, 928 1978–1995, 944 1983–1991, 968 1992–1995; 66.5mm on the Macan 2015–2022. The 5x130 hub centric pair is listed for the 911, 928, 944 and 968 on Porsche factory wheels, for a factory hub no taller than 20mm (five-lug hubs only, never center-lock wheels). If your Porsche is not named above, measure the hub, or measure your bolt pattern if you are unsure of it.
- Thickness available: bolt-on 1" to 2.5" (5x130 hub centric pair, for the models its listing names above on Porsche factory wheels, for a factory hub no taller than 20mm; measure the front hub as well) and 1.25" (5x112 pair, for the Macan), each mounted on a lug-bolt Porsche with hub-side lug bolts in 14x1.5 and the pair's required seat, bought separately; slip-on 6mm, 13mm and 17mm (their listings do not state the bore, so measure your hub and check the listing before ordering); all for five-lug hubs only, never center-lock wheels. Start with the thinnest that clears. The wheel must seat flush on any pair: on a lug-bolt hub the hub-side bolt heads must sit fully recessed below the pair's wheel-side face; on a studded hub, factory studs that stand proud of a thin bolt-on pair's face and stop the wheel seating flush need shortening; never shorten the studs on a slip-on.
- Torque: torque to Porsche's specification for your model and check the bolts or nuts again after the first 50 to 100 miles.
Common questions
Which spacers fit a Porsche 911? Five-lug 911 1965–1998 and 1999–2022 (never center-lock wheels): the 5x130 hub centric Porsche pair (71.5mm bore, 14x1.5 studs, on Porsche factory wheels), for a factory hub no taller than 20mm; measure the front hub too, which on some years stands taller than the rear. On the 911 1999–2022 the pair also needs hub-side lug bolts in 14x1.5 and the pair's required seat, bought separately, long enough for full thread engagement in the hub and with heads fully recessed below the pair's wheel-side face; the air-cooled 911 (901 through 993) 1965–1998 uses lug nuts on studs, which clamp the pair to the hub (a 1998-built 996 sold outside the US uses lug bolts).
Which spacers fit a Cayenne or a Macan? Five-lug hubs only, never center-lock wheels. Cayenne 2003–2022: 5x130 with a 71.6mm hub; the 5x130 hub centric pair's listing does not name it, so no bolt-on pair on this page is listed for it. Macan 2015–2022: the 5x112 pair with 14x1.5 studs, with hub-side lug bolts in 14x1.5 and the pair's required seat, bought separately, long enough for full thread engagement in the hub and with heads fully recessed below the pair's wheel-side face; its included lug nuts are listed for Mercedes wheels, so check their seat against yours. The two are not interchangeable.
Do I need longer lug bolts with a slip-on spacer? On a Porsche with lug bolts, yes: a 6mm, 13mm or 17mm spacer takes that much thread engagement out of the hub, so use longer lug bolts in your vehicle's thread and your wheel's seat, long enough for the thread engagement required by the vehicle, wheel and fastener manufacturers at the spacer thickness you choose, and check that they do not contact brake or other components.
Do bolt-on Porsche spacers come with lug bolts? No. Bolt-on spacers never include lug bolts. On a Porsche with lug bolts the pair fastens to the hub with bolts you buy separately in 14x1.5 and the pair's required seat, long enough for full thread engagement in the hub and with their heads fully recessed below the pair's wheel-side face so the wheel seats flush; the wheel then mounts on the pair's studs with lug nuts that match its stud thread and your wheels' seat.
