What socket do I need, and will it scuff the black finish?
The hex is 13/16". A snug six point socket grips the flats instead of rounding the corners, which is the usual way a coated nut picks up scars during installation.
Do seat types matter?
Yes, and they are not interchangeable. This is an acorn style nut for wheels with tapered cone seats. Wheels machined for mag (washer) or ball seats need that matching nut style instead.
