What bolt pattern does my Golf have? As a rule of thumb, count your lugs first: 4 lugs means 4x100 (Mk1-Mk3), 5 lugs on a 1999-2006 Golf means 5x100, and 5 lugs on a mid-2006 or newer Mk5-Mk8 car (Rabbit, GTI, Golf, Golf R) means 5x112. Mk3 VR6 and some GTI trims are the exception at 5x100, and 2006 is a split year, so verify before ordering.

Can I run newer VW 5x112 wheels on my Mk4 Golf? Yes. A 5x100 to 5x112 adapter bolts to the Mk4 hub and gives you 5x112 studs, so wheels from Mk5 and newer VWs will mount. Check that the adapter thickness clears your suspension and fenders.
