Use a 1-1/16" socket, start every nut by hand, and tighten in a star pattern before torquing to your vehicle's spec. Our torque reference chart covers common values, and a re-torque after 50 to 100 miles is cheap insurance any time the wheels have been off. The open end lets you see the stud, so confirm full thread engagement as you go.
Common questions
Why does the 100 degree angle matter?
The nut's angle has to match the seat it clamps against. A mismatched angle touches in a thin ring instead of the full face and will not hold torque reliably. These are cut at the 100 degree angle for Range Rover (1993-2002) and Discovery (1993-2004) studs, so match the angle, not just the 16x1.5 thread.
What does open end mean?
The nut is not capped, so the stud can protrude through the top. Longer studs will not bottom out inside the nut, and you can visually check that the threads are fully engaged after installation.
