Slip-On Wheel Spacers

The spacer slips over your studs or bolt holes and sits flat against the hub face. Your wheel mounts over it on your studs or lug bolts, which may need to be longer. A spacer's thickness reduces how much thread your lug nuts or lug bolts engage, so confirm your studs or bolts are long enough for the thickness you choose; each listing notes what to check. Match the listing's bolt patterns and thickness to your vehicle before ordering. Check that your studs or bolts keep full thread engagement at the thickness you choose, and plan on longer ones when they do not. Never shorten the studs on a slip-on, and check that closed-end lug nuts do not bottom out.

Hub centric slip-on wheel spacers by hub bore

• 4x100: 56.1mm pairs in 5mm and 8mm flat (a flat spacer centers itself on the hub; the wheel still needs enough factory hub pilot beyond the spacer to engage its center bore) and in 12mm, 15mm and 20mm with a 56.1mm centering lip your wheel's center bore must accept; and 57.1mm pairs (5mm and 8mm, 15mm and 20mm with a lip your wheel's center bore must accept). • 5x100 and 5x112, 57.1mm: dual-drilled 5x100/5x112 pairs in 5mm, 10mm and 15mm; the 16mm and 20mm 4x100/5x100 pairs (listed for the 4-lug BMW 3 Series, VW and the 1999–2006 Audi TT); and the 5x112-only 10mm Audi pair and the 5x112-only 15mm Audi VW pair (not for the 1999–2006 Audi TT), both with a 57.1mm centering lip your wheel's center bore must accept. • 5x100 and 5x112, bore not stated: the two 20mm Audi pairs, one drilled for both patterns and one for 5x112 only (not for the Audi TT); their listings do not state the bore, so measure your hub and check the listing before ordering one.
• 5x112 Mercedes (their listings do not state the bore, so measure your hub and check the listing before ordering): the 10mm pair for a factory hub no taller than 8mm, the 15mm pair for a factory hub no taller than 10mm and the 20mm pair for a factory hub no taller than 12.5mm, each rear axle only on certain models; the 10mm and 15mm capped pairs, front axle only for the models their listings name; and the 5mm and 10mm flat pairs (a flat spacer centers itself on the hub; the wheel still needs enough factory hub pilot beyond the spacer to engage its center bore). • 5x120 BMW: 72.5mm-bore pairs (their listings exclude the 1996–2003 5 Series) in 10mm and 15mm, for a factory hub no taller than 12mm, and in 20mm, each rear axle only on certain models; 74.1mm-bore pairs in 10mm, 15mm and 20mm, for a factory hub no taller than 9mm, rear axle only on certain models and front axle only on others; the 10mm 72.6/74.1 ring pair, for a 72.6mm hub and wheels with a 74.1mm center bore; and the 12mm 74.1/72.56 ring pair, for a 74.1mm hub and wheels with a 72.56mm center bore, front axle only on certain models. • 5x110, 5x120.65 and 5x130: the 65.1mm 5x110 flat pair (5mm; check your hub diameter before ordering it); the Jaguar 10mm pair, listed for the Jaguar XJ and XK series (1969–2003), for a factory hub no taller than 12mm and rear axle only on certain models, bore not stated (measure your hub and check the listing before ordering); and the Porsche 6mm, 13mm and 17mm pairs, for five-lug hubs only, never center-lock wheels, bore not stated (measure your hub and check the listing before ordering). Universal slip-on rings

Slotted rings that are not hub centric cover 4, 5, 6 and 8 lug patterns from 3mm to 1/2" thick. Check that a ring's center opening clears your hub. See universal multi-fit slip-on wheel spacers.

Longer studs or lug bolts

A slip-on takes its own thickness out of the thread engagement on your studs or in the hub. Measure what is left. On stud cars, never shorten the studs on a slip-on; keep the thread engagement required by the vehicle, wheel and fastener manufacturers, fit suitable longer studs if they fall short, and check that closed-end lug nuts do not bottom out. On lug-bolt cars, use longer lug bolts in your vehicle's thread and your wheel's seat, long enough for the thread engagement required by the vehicle, wheel and fastener manufacturers at the spacer thickness you choose, and check that they do not contact brake or other components. Torque to your vehicle maker's specification and check again after the first 50 to 100 miles.
