NA (1990-1997), NB (1999-2005), and ND (2016 and newer) cars all run 4x100, while the NC generation (2006-2015) is the exception at 5x114.3, also written 5x4.5. Are 5x114.3 and 5x4.5 the same bolt pattern? Yes. 5x4.5 is the inch notation and 5x114.3 is the metric notation for the identical pattern, so an adapter labeled 5x4.5 fits an NC Miata hub.

Can I run 5-lug wheels on an NA, NB, or ND Miata? Yes. A 4x100 to 5x100, 4x100 to 5x4.5 (5x114.3), or 4x100 to 5x4.75 adapter converts the stock 4-lug hub so 5-lug wheels bolt on. Check wheel center bore and adapter thickness for clearance.

Which Miata generation does not use 4x100? Only the 2006-2015 NC generation, which uses 5x114.3. Every other generation, including current ND cars, uses 4x100, but verify your specific year before ordering.
