Hand-start each bolt, then draw the wheel up evenly in a star pattern with a 17mm socket. Final-tighten to the value in our torque reference chart and re-torque after 50 to 100 miles of driving.

Common questions

When do I need a 45mm shank instead of a shorter one?
Match the bolts you are removing. Measure the threaded shank from under the seat to the tip; if it reads 45mm, this is the right length. A longer bolt than the hub was designed for can bottom out, while a shorter one gives up thread engagement.

Do these work with ball seat wheels?
No. These are conical (tapered) seat bolts, and conical, ball, and flat seats are not interchangeable. The seat shape must match the wheel exactly to center it and hold torque.
